Besser® Block sizes and dimensions

The size of a full unit Besser® Block is 390mm long X 190mm wide X 190mm high. These Besser® Block dimensions are for the traditional 200mm series block, and the code (name) for this block is the 20.01. There are 12.5 standard Besser® Blocks per metre square (m2) of wall.

The series of a Besser® Block refers to the width of the unit and a 20.01 block is part of the 200mm series of Besser® Blocks. Adbri Masonry produces a full range of sizes and the following series of Besser® Blocks:

• 100mm series (90mm wide blocks)
• 150mm series (140mm wide blocks)
• 200mm series (190mm wide blocks)
• 300mm series (290mm wide blocks)
• Brick series (110mm wide traditional brick size and dimensions)

  • What is a Besser® Block?

    A Besser® Block is a common name used to describe a concrete building block. The word Besser® is a registered trademark of Adbri Masonry. These can also be referred to as Concrete Masonry Units (CMU), concrete blocks, grey block or cinder blocks.

  • Why build with Besser® Blocks?

    Besser® Blocks are hardwearing, durable and can be used for both commercial and residential builds. In some areas such as tropical North Queensland, the Building Code of Australia requires homes to be constructed using block to mitigate the risk of damage caused by cyclones.

  • Can you render concrete Besser® Blocks?

    Rendering concrete block is a proven, simple and cost-effective way to achieve a waterproof, durable and premium looking finish.

  • Can Besser® Blocks be used for retaining walls?

    Besser® Blocks can be used for building retaining walls, and are a popular as they are pure vertical, meaning they do not consume valuable space. They can also be engineered and reinforced to reach great heights.

  • Should you core fill Besser® Blocks?

    In many applications, concrete block walls will be corefilled with grout and reo steel. In addition to making blocks lighter to handle, the large cores in concrete Besser® Blocks allow for easy corefilling with buckets, or for larger jobs, a concrete pump.
